A NEW GENERATION OF EXPEDITION VEHICLES

VETERAN OWNED & LEDBUILT IN KENTUCKY20+ YEARS OF BUILDING EXPERIENCE

EVERY SYSTEM.
ONE PURPOSE.

More time out there.
A better life on board.

We’re developing our next expedition vehicles around a single idea: the truck, the living space, and every system within should work together from the start.

Here’s a little of what’s ahead.

01

Capability from the ground up.

Commercial-duty foundations. A habitat engineered with the chassis. Structure, weight distribution, and storage considered together—before the first mile.

CHASSIS / HABITAT / STORAGE
02

Independence, by design.

Power generation, energy storage, water, and climate control are being developed as connected systems. The goal is longer stays away from hookups, with clear controls and less to manage.

ENERGY / WATER / CLIMATE
03

Room for real life.

Space to cook, rest, work, and carry what matters. Four-season living is part of the design from the beginning, with communications and monitoring integrated into daily life on board.

A NEW CHAPTER.
SAME HANDS.

Veteran owned. Kentucky built.

TRAX began with a truck built for the founder’s own family. Years of building expedition vehicles followed. That hands-on experience is shaping what comes next.

The full reveal is still ahead. We’ll share the details as they’re ready.

Frequently asked questions.

What is overlanding?

Overlanding is self-reliant, vehicle-based travel focused on exploring and experiencing the journey. It combines driving with camping and carrying the supplies you need along the way. A trip can follow backroads close to home or cover long distances through remote areas.

What is an expedition vehicle?

An expedition vehicle is equipped for travel and living away from established facilities. Depending on the design, it may include sleeping space, a kitchen, water storage, electrical power, heating, and a bathroom. Expedition trucks combine these living systems with a truck platform selected for the intended travel.

What is the difference between an overlanding vehicle and an RV?

The categories can overlap. An overlanding vehicle emphasizes self-sufficient travel and suitability for its intended routes, while an RV provides living accommodations for recreational use. Some expedition vehicles are also RVs. Compare actual construction, dimensions, equipment, and driving capability rather than assuming either label guarantees a particular level of performance.

How long can you stay off-grid in a vehicle?

Your stay depends on water, energy use, charging opportunities, food, fuel, waste capacity, weather, and the number of people traveling. The practical limit is whichever essential resource runs short first. Estimate your daily use and plan a reserve instead of relying on a best-case runtime claim.

How do off-grid vehicles get electricity?

They combine batteries with one or more charging sources. Depending on the build, those sources can include solar panels, a properly designed engine-charging system, an external electrical hookup, or a generator. Batteries store energy for later use; they do not produce an unlimited supply of electricity.

Can you run air conditioning without a generator?

Yes, with an electrical system designed to support it. Runtime depends on usable battery capacity, the air conditioner’s consumption, outdoor conditions, insulation, and other equipment running at the same time. Ask for tested operating conditions and charging assumptions, not just a claim that the vehicle has battery-powered air conditioning.

Can you live off-grid in winter?

Yes, with equipment appropriate for the conditions. Evaluate insulation, heating, ventilation, plumbing protection, and the temperature limits of batteries and other components. A warm cabin does not guarantee that every water line or drain is protected. Follow the specific vehicle’s cold-weather operating and winterization instructions.

Can you work remotely while living off-grid?

Yes, provided your setup supports your work. Plan for a dependable internet connection, adequate electrical power, a usable workspace, and backup locations when connectivity fails. Test your actual tasks, including video calls and large uploads, before relying on a remote campsite for an important workday.

How much does a custom overlanding vehicle cost?

The price depends on the base vehicle, camper structure, equipment, interior, labor, and customization. A shell-only quote is not comparable to the price of a fully equipped vehicle. Request an itemized proposal and confirm whether it includes the chassis, installation, options, taxes, delivery, and any required finishing work.

How long does it take to build a custom overlander?

There is no standard timeline for every builder or project. Ask separately about the wait for a production slot and the time needed to complete the work. Request a project-specific schedule covering design approval, construction, testing, and delivery, and clarify how changes or delayed components will be handled.
